La Bibliothèque municipale de Lille propose des collections pour les enfants, des romans pour les adolescents et les adultes, ainsi que de la documentation pour apprendre l'anglais, enrichir son vocabulaire et sa grammaire, passer un examen avec succès, découvrir le monde et dialoguer avec plaisir !
The municipal library offers collections for children, novels for teenagers and adults, as well as documentation to learn English, enrich vocabulary and grammar, pass an exam, discover the world !
COUPS DE COEUR parmi les livres de nos collections, en provenance de Leeds (Angleterre) et de Wellington (Nouvelle-Zélande). Jumelée depuis 1968, la ville de Leeds apporte une ouverture à la langue et à la culture anglaise aux Lillois et Lilloises. De nombreux projets ont nourri cette coopération dans des domaines comme les échanges entre écoles ou universités, des événements culturels et des résidences artistiques. A seulement quelques heures en train, le voyage est rapide 😉!

A l'occasion des Nuits de la lecture 2025 consacrées au patrimoine et à la littérature de l'intime, Mia et Kristen nous ont proposé une lecture bilingue du bout du monde !
For the national event called "les Nuits de la lecture" last January, which was dedicated to heritage and intimitate literature, Mia and Kristen offered us a bilingual reading fron the other side of the world!

Le 23 avril est la journée de la langue anglaise, organisée par l'ONU depuis 2010, afin de promouvoir le multilinguisme et la diversité culturelle. La journée du 23 avril est traditionnellement célébrée au Royaume-Uni pour la St George, Saint Patron de l'Angleterre. Ce jour commémore aussi les jours de naissance et de mort de William Shakespeare. L'occasion de célébrer l'anglais à Lille !
HIGHLIGHTS on April 23rd and May 16th, 2025
April 23 is English Language Day, organized by the UN since 2010, to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity. April 23 is traditionally celebrated in the United Kingdom for St George's Day, the patron saint of England. This day also commemorates the days of William Shakespeare's birth and death.
Deux temps forts sont au programme :
► Une journée festive, le mercredi 23 avril dès 10h à la médiathèque de Fives : on y va en famille pour découvrir la comédie musicale Into the woods et chanter ensemble les standards associés. Le petit chaperon rouge, Jack et le Haricot Magique ou Cendrillon n'attendent plus que vous. D'autres activités sont proposées pour tous les publics de 0 à 99 ans !
► Un afterwork littéraire, le vendredi 16 mai à 8 h : Taylor Swift ou William Shakespeare ? Connaissez-vous le quiz qui vous met au défi de différencier des citations de Shakespeare ou de Taylor Swift ? Nous allons jouer ensemble et profiter d'un moment convivial dans le jardin de la médiathèque, pour allier début de week-end et apéro bilingue en français et anglais ! Evénement reporté à une date ultérieure.

► A festive day at the Fives media library from 10 to 6 : you're kindly invited with your family to discover the musical Into the woods. Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk or Cinderella are waiting for you!
► An afterwork, Friday 16 May at 6 pm in the garden of the Jean Levy public library: Do you know the quiz that challenges you to differenciate between quotes from Shakespeare or Taylor Swift? We are going to play together and enjoy a convivial moment, to combine the beginning of the weekend and a bilingual aperitif in French and English! Event postponed to a later date.
LE SAVIEZ-VOUS ? Tout au long de l'année dans les médiathèques de Fives et Wazemmes, les Bibliothécaires proposent des Tea Time bilingues en anglais pour les petits comme pour les grands. Consultez l'agenda culturel de la Bibliothèque municipale de Lille.
