To Kill a Mockingbird / Harper Lee
[Livre]
Edité par Arrow books
2010
A black man charged with the rape of a white girl. Through the young eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with exuberant humour the irrationality of adult attitudes to race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s. The conscience of a town steeped in prejudice, violence and hypocrisy is pricked by the stamina of one man's struggle for justice. But the weight of history will only tolerate so much.

If you have not read it yet, now is the time!
I love this book so much I have read it many times. Written in 1961, the story is set in Alabama, two children Scout and Jem Finch and their father Atticus. Atticus is a lawyer who is defending a black man falsely accused of rape. The story is based on the auteur's memories of her family, her neighbours, and an event from her childhood when she was 10. A fantastic read, I have recommended this so many times over the years.
